Migration from Central American countries continued in Mexico in 2022, and many undocumented travelers crossed Oaxaca on their way north. Of those, 122 — mainly from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras — applied for permanent residency.
Over 70 citizens of the Caribbean, including Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, also chose Oaxaca as their new home.
Some 230 new residents were from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.
