Thieves hit downtown jewelry store
The Puerto Escondido jewelry store that was the target of thieves on Monday.

Thieves stole about half a million pesos (US $26,800) worth of merchandise from a jewelry store in downtown Puerto Escondido on Monday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses saw armed individuals enter Frida Kahlo, a well-known store located on Calle 3a Poniente.

The thieves subdued employees by tying them up before grabbing merchandise, mostly silver jewelry.

Witness accounts indicate that the criminals fled on a small motorcycle.
