Residents of Colonia Lomas de San Pedro were witnesses to an armed attack Thursday that left one man dead.
The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. on Calle Lomas, across from the Universidad del Mar campus.
Residents told the newspaper El Imparcial that armed individuals intercepted a vehicle in which two people were traveling before opening fire on them.
Upon hearing multiple gunshots, neighbors notified emergency services. Red Cross paramedics and municipal police officers arrived at the scene of the crime soon after.
The paramedics found that the male driver of the car had been killed in the attack, while his female companion had been seriously injured.
No reports about the identity of the victims has been released, and what little information there is stated that the woman was transported to a local hospital.
The scene of the crime itself was cordoned off by San Pedro Mixtepec municipal police, who notified the regional prosecutor’s office and the state investigation agency, AEI.
