Dissatisfied parents have set up a blockade on highway 200 outside Huatulco.
The protesters are parents of students attending the technological preparatory school CETMAR 44, who used their cars to block traffic by the Huatulco campus of the Universidad del Mar (Umar).
The parents’ main demand is aimed at the state and federal governments for not having built a promised school.
The complainants said that five years ago the donation process for a two-hectare piece of land was set in motion for the construction of CETMAR 44 facilities.
The state government pledged to back the project, but that promise has yet to be fulfilled, the parents said.
The ownership of the donated piece of land is also under contention, as the trucking company Sector Transporte Huatulco has claimed ownership.
The freight company uses the land under dispute to park its vehicles.
The protesting parents demanded a solution to the conflict, warning that if no favorable response is made by the authorities, the blockade will not be lifted.
