Motocross event offers 200,000 pesos in prizes

The Fiestas de Noviembre are under way and one of the first sports tournaments takes place next week at Motopark Puerto Escondido.

The final rounds of the MX Motocross Cup are scheduled to kick off Saturday, November 12 at 10 a.m.

Motopark Puerto Escondido is organizing the event in collaboration with municipal and state authorities, and is expecting prominent racers to contribute to a good turnout during the two-day-long event.

The organizers announced that a total of 200,000 pesos (US $10,200) will be distributed in prizes, and an added 50,000-peso fund will help contestants travel to the event from outside the Coast region.

The sand track at Motopark Puerto Escondido track is 1,800 meters long and an average 7 meters wide, and located 50 meters above sea level.

Races will be divided per categories as follows: 50 and 65 cc, Rookies and MX 28, Master 40 and Senior 50, 85 cc, Veterans 30 and Experts.

Two heats will be held per category, and on the day of the competition racers in all categories will have a few prep minutes to try out the winding track.

The MX Motocross Cup is back after two years, and will implement sanitary measures in an effort to keep viral transmissions to a minimum. Organizers are expecting entire families to be in attendance and enjoy the weekend’s activities.

Motocross is but one of the sport competitions scheduled as part of this month’s celebrations, a list that includes volleyball, fishing and surfing.
