The state Civil Protection office issued a groundswell warning Wednesday for the coast of Oaxaca.
Based on information from the navy, the agency reported that the phenomenon would develop Wednesday night, triggering waves of approximately 5 to 7 feet high.
The warning extended from the state of Chiapas in the south to Jalisco.
Harbormasters in the state of Oaxaca may issue their own warnings and preventive measures due to the expected high waves and strong currents.
More information regarding the development of the groundswell and updated warnings will be made available through official Civil Protection social media accounts, TV and radio stations, and municipal authorities.
