Dog poop on Bacocho Beach has led to restricted hours for dogs, the municipality of San Pedro Mixtepec has announced.
The order, issued on Tuesday, applies to dogs with or without a leash and is in effect daily between noon and 7 p.m.
The San Pedro council explained that the order was imposed due to an excess of dog waste found on the beach in recent weeks.
The measure’s goal is to avoid public health problems for all those who enjoy the certified clean beach.
The council indicated that the clean beach certification, based on an official federal standard, establishes the requirements and specifications for environmental, health, safety, and service quality for the sustainability of the beaches.
The absence of dog poop is one of those requirements.
