The selfless actions of a local cab driver turned what could well have ended up as a tragedy into a heartwarming story.
Residents of the small town of Los Limones, located about seven kilometers north of Puerto Escondido, found an elderly man wandering around disoriented.
When questioned, the man only said that he was lost.
Determined to help, the locals called for a taxi. Driver Rogelio Agudo answered the call, driving to Los Limones and volunteering to help the old man return to his home in Colonia Libertad.
Agudo delivered the man to one of his relatives, and refused to charge a fare.
The incident and its happy outcome were soon reported on social media, where the newspaper El Imparcial reported that one user commended Agudo for his “generous heart.”
Others contrasted the driver’s actions with those of his peers, “who charge 150 pesos for a trip between Zicatela and Bacocho.”
