Another event has been added to festivities surrounding Halloween and Día de Muertos in Puerto Escondido — a “Rodada del Terror,” or “bicycle ride of terror.”
The bike ride, in which participants donned masks, makeup and costumes, was organized by bike enthusiast and entrepreneur Tello Sánchez López.
Sánchez runs a mountain biking shop and adventure tours, as well as the Master Bike Puerto Escondido biking club. Over 100 cyclists joined him in his “Rodada del Terror,” the first time such an event has been organized.
The meeting point was the Manitas sculpture on Zicatela Beach on the evening of October 28.
The spooky troupe of cyclists, led by Sánchez, rode from Zicatela to La Punta, returning on the highway and riding to the Rinconada before heading back to Las Manitas.
Sánchez remarked that his is a non-profit cyclists association, and that its members train and participate in different local, national and international events throughout the year.
After organizing a successful first event of this kind, Sánchez said he hopes it can be repeated next year.
